Gather your red, white, and blue — Independence Day is right the corner! Even though the famous Navy Pier firework display has been canceled again this year, there are still tons of fireworks and entertainment happening in or around the Windy City.
Park Displays
Naperville, just west of Chicago, is hosting a July 4th firework display at Frontier Park, with live music, food, and games. Masks and social distancing will be required as well as a capacity limit, so make sure to get there early if you plan on going! As an additional part of The Naperville Salute, there are other family-friendly events happening July 2-3 at Rotary Hill.

At Tinley Park’s Fourth of July celebration in Cook County, patrons can enjoy all-day activities ranging from a 5k run, mini golf, and batting cages, to live music and of course, fireworks. Water Displays
For a change of scenery and a more relaxing Fourth of July celebration, book a Lake Michigan Fireworks Cruise! Interested but can’t make it there on Independence Day weekend? The 2-2.5-hour fireworks cruise happens every Wednesday and Saturday in CHI this summer. If you’re looking for more of a family affair and shorter experience, 45-minute River Fireworks Cruises are also available!
Music Downtown
For a fun day celebrating July 4th downtown CHI, head over to the Grant Park Music Festival: Independence Day Salute at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion to hear classic patriotic songs performed by the Grant Park Orchestra, award winning musicians and conductors. If classic music isn’t’ your forte stop by Memorial Park’s concert July 3-4 featuring a classic rock and contemporary pop DJ, food, and drinks.
