Friday Favorites: St. Louis Spots to Enjoy the Season

In this edition of Friday Favorites, we decided to highlight some of our favorite spots to visit this time of year in St. Louis. With the colors on full display this autumn, we have no doubt you’ll find an activity that allows you to take full advantage of the scenery.

Defiance, Missouri

Defiance is a little gem of a town located just under an hour from St. Louis and marks the start of the Missouri wine country. Though it is a bit of a drive if seeing the color on the trees is what you’re after, the drive alone is worth it. Our favorite wineries to visit in the area are Chandler Hill and Mount Pleasant, both will deliver incredible views and great wine!

St. Louis Wheel

Perhaps the newest addition to the downtown St. Louis skyline, the St. Louis Wheel at Union Station is sure to be fun for anyone. While the Ferris Wheel is open day and night, if you’re craving those fall colors, we suggest going during the day or at sunset to really get a great view. Standard tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children, but if you really want to splurge (and aren’t afraid of heights) we recommend purchasing the VIP gondola for $50 which has a glass floor!

Forest Park Trikke Tour

Trikke STL Tours is our new favorite way to explore Forest Park! What’s the best way to see 1,300 acres of the park? By Trikke of course. These “elekktric trikkes” are easier to use with their three-wheel base and almost anyone can use them if you can stand up. And while they are electric, they can also be body-powered, offering the chance to get some exercise while you’re at it. Whether you take their “Around the World’s Fair in 80 Minutes” tour or “Hidden Forest Park” tour, this has got to be one of the best ways to view St. Louis’s crown jewel.

Historic St. Charles

The City of St. Charles is located right on the banks of the Missouri River and offers great access to the Katy Trail which is perfect for walking or bike riding amongst the fall foliage. Right off the trail is Main Street St. Charles which offers some great spots to grab lunch or do a little shopping! Trailhead Brewing Co. is one of our favorite spots for a craft beer and some pub food.
